The Road Marked Remembrance

June 19, 2020

If there is anything the COVID-19 has given me, it’s been time. Its been altered – set down into a new place – life is not the same.

Having more time carries a huge weight of responsibility with it. I’ve been experiencing a load of guilt as I observe my neighbor take down a good acre of 60 foot alder trees and re-landscape his entire yard into a green grassy acre with mounded garden beds of lush flowerbeds, and even a waterfall feature, while the weeds in our garden are growing to unprecedented heights. I have more time, but what am I doing with it? [Read more…]

On Being Tender-Hearted

May 6, 2020

My children were toddlers, about 3 and 5 years old, when I had them memorize five important words – ‘Be kind to one another’.

“Be kind and tender-hearted to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”  – Ephesians 4:32

I’d be lying if I told you my goal was Scripture memory. Let me be clear, my goal was behavior management, and it didn’t work. [Read more…]

  Three Things That Matter

February 28, 2020

EVERY STEP MATTERS.

‘Every step matters’ is my mantra, or word(s), for 2020. I read those words in a Susie Larson book and it resonated head to toe –‘Yes!’. Those 3 words have revisited me – daily. They’re slowly embedding themselves into my thinking and I’m choosing to live like it. [Read more…]

How is Your Journey Reforming You?

February 11, 2020

“Remember your journey…that you may know the righteous acts of the Lord.”

Micah 6:5

This is the path we’re following today – remembering – looking back at God’s work in us on our life’s journey –remembering we’re not alone. Even in our apparent wanderings, our aimless steps, our missteps and dead ends – God is forming us. There is a purpose, there is a plan, and there is the mighty hand of God using all that happens on our journey for good. [Read more…]

Beware of Entertaining the Enemy with Just a Thought

January 23, 2020

There are some places we just shouldn’t go – it’s too dangerous.

I remember a visit I made to New York City, I spent my days walking and seeing sights in Manhattan, while my friend worked. I had a map – hand held, paper made, in the dinosaur years before cell phones – but, still, I was lost. I knew which direction I needed to go, but I wasn’t quite sure of my location. [Read more…]

I live on an island, in the country. A sweet combination. I spend way too much time sitting on a ferry to get to the mainland and my people, thinking about how I should be weeding and pruning our 5 acres, or driving down country roads taking pictures. Nature grabs me – taking pictures delights me. I love to capture nature’s messiness – the wild wonder, the abundant extravagance of blurred green and blue landscapes. I write for similar reasons – to capture small glimpses of the wonders of God, to hold up God’s Word and see the beauty of His holiness. Small snapshots of His glory. I’m so glad you’re here.
