57 1/2 Snippets of Wisdom I’d Tell My Younger Self

May 30, 2019

It had to happen and 57 1/2 seemed a good time. I’m drawn to all lists. Period. Love ‘em. Given that, it’s no surprise I’m drawn to the ‘What I Would Tell My Younger Self’ lists. So, today I give my version – oddly numbered, a little like me. It’s just in time for Emily P. Freeman’s ‘What I’m Learning’ Link Up here.

I’m in my 57 ½ year of life, but for the sake of the list the ½ refers to ‘the how’ for each item. I’m coming to see ‘the how’s’ of life are very important. Sometimes, the most important part. ‘The how’ is the attitude – our approach – to the thing we’re doing. Not. To. Be. Forgotten.

Are You Waiting for God’s Plan to Unfold Now?

May 15, 2019

Today on the blog we’re taking a small peek at a big question – ‘Why wait?’

Let me be clear, I may be the world’s worst at waiting (ask my hubby). I can’t stand it. I want to make things happen – to take things into my own hands – now.

Sometimes I’ll even cheat; take shortcuts to get myself where I’m going sooner. Just yesterday I was reading a book and I couldn’t wait for the end – so, I skipped a good chunk of the middle and read the last two chapters. Mission accomplished. [Read more…]

Receive Rest With Gladness

March 13, 2019

Have you ever been there – tired enough to cry? Bone weary? No energy for the tiniest task. Weary for sleep. Weary for rest.

I live on an island, in the country. A sweet combination. I spend way too much time sitting on a ferry to get to the mainland and my people, thinking about how I should be weeding and pruning our 5 acres, or driving down country roads taking pictures. Nature grabs me – taking pictures delights me. I love to capture nature’s messiness – the wild wonder, the abundant extravagance of blurred green and blue landscapes. I write for similar reasons – to capture small glimpses of the wonders of God, to hold up God’s Word and see the beauty of His holiness. Small snapshots of His glory. I’m so glad you’re here. (for a wee bit more about me. read here)
