I love the word ‘grumbly’.
It conjures up many images, first off for me, the character of Pooh, in Winnie the Pooh, who was ‘so very rumbly in his tumbly‘. Pooh’s tummy was ever hungry – always grumbling in the background – expressing that gnawing want and need to be fed.

**Today I’m bringing this one up from the archives – because it happened again, God’s clear whisper to my soul – a small voice of conscience saying ‘Not your way, Sandra’. How I struggle to relinquish my ways, especially in the small things. Do you struggle, too? Is there some small call you’ve been hearing for awhile – you think it may be from God, but you just haven’t wanted to listen – maybe you have a different idea, or a different way. This one’s for you….
“Do you want to play in the tent with me?” I whispered the words while leaning in towards my grandson, Clarky’s ear. His huge grin spoke the ‘yes’ that his little mouth could not yet form.
There is something in a soft whisper – a secret just for him that delights. Even a toddler will quiet when he hears a whisper.

Life is not for wimps.
Life is hard – there are no turn-offs to ‘The Easy Life’.
Yet, somehow I am repeatedly surprised when I wake up to face yet another fear – or challenge – or trouble that I hadn’t expected.
I want to believe I’ve graduated from troubles. Moved on. I’ve grown up into ‘I-can-do-this’ land; a fearless land For Adults Only. But, it’s just not true. I still have much to face.

It started at the very beginning. The beginning of time. It started with the first bite. The first bite into sin. It was there. Our hiding began.
“Where are you?” God asked Adam and Eve, even though He knew – “they hid” (Gen 3:9).
Adam and Eve were afraid because they were naked, their sin had exposed them. They feared that they would be seen for what they truly were.
I fear the same things today – 2,000 years later. I, too, hide. I hide from fear of being exposed. I hide for fear I’ll be seen for what I am. [Read more…]
