How Do I View Others – Looking Up – Looking Down – Or, Eye to Eye?

October 4, 2017

I am a tall woman, a full 5’10” to be exact. Life looks kind of different from up here.

Truly, your perspective on life is altered based on whether you look people eye to eye, or peer down at them from tall and lofty heights, or look at people from down below.

Height was not a physical attribute I delighted in growing up. When you’re the tallest person in your class in jr. high and high school, boy or girl, my height made me feel uncomfortable. Gawky. Which wasn’t helped by my excessively thin arms and legs. I might be the only person who lied and added weight for a high school sports team roster. [Read more…]

The Leasts – Do You and I Notice Them?

September 27, 2017

Recently, I was scrolling down the long list of forty plus comments on a fellow blogger’s post, the list went on-and-on, everybody wanted to add their mark of approval, their accolade, to the beautifully written post.

I had to stop myself – take my finger off the down arrow – and think.

Perhaps, a comment might be more needed on a less popular blog. I went with my gut instinct and found a strong, but otherwise, unnoticed blog post to comment on.

How easy it is for me to follow ‘the greats’ – the obvious winners, the stand-outs, in their field – whether it be sports, speaking, or writing. I get in line with a large number of followers to join, to sign up, and to follow a ‘great’. It’s easy. It feels right. [Read more…]

September 6, 2017

Fall has begun and as you and I fall into our routines, our new schedules, our pace quickens and sometimes our hearts and minds accelerate, too. So, today I’m sharing a poem that grounds me and reminds me where true blessings lie, a reminder I need daily. I hope it blesses you, too!

“I asked God for strength, that I might achieve;

I was made weak, that I might learn humbly to obey. [Read more…]

Do You Ever Do A Happy Dance?

July 12, 2017

My husband doesn’t dance. So, I don’t dance much.

Let’s be honest, we all celebrate differently – what is torture to my hubby, is gleeful exuberance to my daughter, for instance. [Read more…]

I live on an island, in the country. A sweet combination. I spend way too much time sitting on a ferry to get to the mainland and my people, thinking about how I should be weeding and pruning our 5 acres, or driving down country roads taking pictures. Nature grabs me – taking pictures delights me. I love to capture nature’s messiness – the wild wonder, the abundant extravagance of blurred green and blue landscapes. I write for similar reasons – to capture small glimpses of the wonders of God, to hold up God’s Word and see the beauty of His holiness. Small snapshots of His glory. I’m so glad you’re here. (for a wee bit more about me. read here)
