**Today I’m bringing this one up from the archives – because it happened again, God’s clear whisper to my soul – a small voice of conscience saying ‘Not your way, Sandra’. How I struggle to relinquish my ways, especially in the small things. Do you struggle, too? Is there some small call you’ve been hearing for awhile – you think it may be from God, but you just haven’t wanted to listen – maybe you have a different idea, or a different way. This one’s for you….

“Do you want to play in the tent with me?” I whispered the words while leaning in towards  my grandson, Clarky’s ear. His huge grin spoke the ‘yes’ that his little mouth could not yet form.

There is something in a soft whisper – a secret just for him that delights. Even a toddler will quiet when he hears a whisper.

Life is not for wimps.

Life is hard – there are no turn-offs to ‘The Easy Life’.

Yet, somehow I am repeatedly surprised when I wake up to face yet another fear – or challenge – or trouble that I hadn’t expected.

I want to believe I’ve graduated from troubles. Moved on. I’ve grown up into ‘I-can-do-this’ land; a fearless land For Adults Only. But, it’s just not true. I still have much to face.

Are You Waiting for God’s Plan to Unfold Now?

Today on the blog we’re taking a small peek at a big question – ‘Why wait?’

Let me be clear, I may be the world’s worst at waiting (ask my hubby). I can’t stand it. I want to make things happen – to take things into my own hands – now.

Sometimes I’ll even cheat; take shortcuts to get myself where I’m going sooner. Just yesterday I was reading a book and I couldn’t wait for the end – so, I skipped a good chunk of the middle and read the last two chapters. Mission accomplished. [Read more…]

Receive Rest With Gladness

Yesterday around 5:00p.m I plopped down on a kitchen chair, my hands gripping the glass table in front of me, my head drooping and I wanted to weep. I was so tired. I briefly considered going to bed – or taking a nap – but that would probably mean being awake half the night. Not. Worth. It.

Have you ever been there – tired enough to cry? Bone weary? No energy for the tiniest task. Weary for sleep. Weary for rest.
